In December 1814 a large crowd of Māori gathered at a hui to celebrate their first Christmas.
There was no Santa Claus nor any reindeer at this gathering, but there were some amazing gifts. You can read about this unique part of Aoteroa New Zealand’s history in ‘The First Kiwi Christmas’.
This delightfully illustrated story designed for 4-7 year olds will make a great gift this Christmas.
Children will enjoy finding Paki on each page as they go on a journey to see how Māori and a group of early settlers celebrated Aotearoa New Zealand’s first Christmas over 200 years ago.
