As C.S.Lewis's first work of fiction and the first book he wrote after converting to Christianity, The Pilgrims Regress is a highly personal allegory revealing the spiritual journey that brought him to an acceptance of his faith.
Modelled on John Bunyan's The Pilgrim Progress, the novel tells the story of a boy who, after glimpsing a beautiful island that fills him with an intense yearning, sets out on a pilgrimage in pursuit of his desires. It addresses satirically the cultural fads and spiritual trends people turn to in the search to fill a void that, as Lewis discovers, can only be filled by God.
